Peter Valentyne graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy where he was awarded the Atlantic Monthly prize for poetry. His poems have also been published in The Red Cedar Review and SUFI magazine, as well as Alchemy Lab. He had his first screenplay Petals On a Wet, Black Bough optioned by Tri-Star Pictures. As a playwright in New York he's penned and produced three full-length plays: The Unimagined Bridge, The Fortuneteller’s Nostalgia and Candidates for God, the latter done at Manhattan Punchline Theatre. He has written two screenplays The Enemy Joy and Court of the Arms. His plays The Aluminum Garden, Prater at Lethe, The Logic of Solids and Trusting Mr. Universe were all produced by Sage Theatre Company on Theatre Row, all three of which were awarded “Best Plays” in the company’s annual competition. The Aluminum Garden ran for a record six months. Mr. Valentyne believes in bringing plays to the people having himself directed Trusting Mr. Universe for performances in a Unitarian Church. The Logic of Solids (first produced in 1998 at the Abington Theatre) was last performed at the foot of a lighthouse on the Isle Au Haut in Maine for a benefit performance to raise proceeds for the restoration of the island lighthouse. The project was filmed as a documentary for Maine Public Television.
Peter is the curator of the PST thrift shop, " Cinema Verité," located at 457 West 50th Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues in Manhattan.
